Biography
From a shy young person seeking confidence to a passionate instructor helping others find their strength, my martial arts journey has been life-changing.
Growing up, I struggled with confidence. I often felt uncertain of myself and where I fit in. That all started to change when I found Tiger Martial Arts. The discipline, challenge and support I found through training helped me develop a positive self-image and a real belief in my abilities. When I discovered Tiger in 2021, I knew I had found the right place. The atmosphere, the instructors and the community made me feel at home from day one.
Tiger didn’t just build my confidence, it fuelled my personal growth and gave me the tools to face life’s challenges head-on. Now, as an instructor, I get to give that same experience to others.
Before I started teaching, I worked in a restaurant kitchen and studied animal care, earning A level-equivalent qualifications in biology and animal behaviour. While I was proud of those achievements, I always felt I was destined to do more to help people in a meaningful way. Seeing how Tiger’s instructors supported and inspired students sparked something in me. I knew I wanted to do the same.
Becoming an instructor has allowed me to combine my passion for martial arts with my desire to help others. Everyday, I meet people who come to Tiger looking to build confidence, learn self-defence or simply try something new. Many feel nervous or worried about starting. I always make it a priority to welcome them, reassure them and show them that they are in a safe, supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to grow.
For me, the most rewarding part of teaching is seeing someone overcome a challenge they never thought they could. Whether it’s landing their first technique, achieving their next belt grade or simply walking in with more confidence than the week before, those wins matter. They build resilience, self-discipline and respect, values we focus on with every student, on and off the mat.
We keep it simple with three golden rules for our junior students, helping them stay focused, positive and confident. No matter your age, we strive to make sure every student feels empowered, respected and proud of who they are becoming.
Outside of martial arts, I love spending time with my family, friends and dogs, exploring new places on my motorbike and caring for animals. I have also taught myself to play the guitar and I have many achievements playing drums. I have also taken an interest in learning new languages, I have been teaching myself to speak Japanese.
I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition for my work and dedication, including a welfare award in college for excellence in animal care. But my proudest achievements come from the martial arts students I work with every day.
If you’re looking for a place to train where you’ll be supported, challenged and inspired, I believe Tiger is that place and I would love to help you start your journey.
