Whether you’re looking to boost your fitness, build confidence, or simply find a new outlet for stress, martial arts can be a life-changing journey. For me, that journey began as a way to get fit, stay active and learn self-defence. What I didn’t expect was how much it would help me manage stress, develop confidence, and navigate life with more clarity and control.
After a long break from Martial Arts due to injury, a friend recommended Tiger. From my very first session, I knew it was the right place to rebuild both my body and mindset. The team at Tiger welcomed me with encouragement and expertise. Despite being in a group, every class felt personal. I’ve now been training at Tiger since 2022, Tiger’s flexible and inclusive approach allows me to train in a way that suits my body and age. I am never compared to others and always supported to work within my own limits.
Both of my children also train at Tiger. They started to help improve their focus and confidence, especially after dealing with bullying at school. The values at Tiger are centred around respect, responsibility and emotional awareness, which has helped my children develop not just as martial artists but as people. They now approach challenges with more self-belief, emotional control and maturity.
My own teaching journey began after years in hospitality, security and event management. I eventually opened a martial arts school because I wanted to give people the same tools that helped me. Martial arts is not just about kicking and punching. It’s about building confidence, creating discipline, and helping people do things they never believed they could.
In every class, I focus on making students feel safe, seen and supported. Many people are nervous at first, worried they might not fit in or afraid of being judged. I meet those fears with patience and time. The most fulfilling part of my role is watching people grow, pass their gradings and take those hard-won lessons off the mat and into their everyday lives.
My teaching philosophy is simple: treat people with respect, guide them with care and always encourage self-belief. I get to know each student and take the time to check in, not just on their progress, but on their goals and their wellbeing too.
Outside of martial arts, I’m a bit of an adventurer. From riding motorbikes and horses to hiking waterfalls and ziplining through forests, I love reconnecting with family, friends and the great outdoors. I believe in making memories that matter.
If you’re thinking about starting martial arts, I’d love to meet you. Whether it’s for you or your child, we offer a safe, friendly and empowering environment where everyone is treated with respect and encouraged to grow.
Tiger Martial Arts is not just a school, it’s a community. If you want to be fitter, more focused, more confident and better equipped for life’s challenges, this is the place to start.
