Biography
From the moment I first stepped onto the mats at Tiger, martial arts became more than a hobby, It became a way of life. I started training in 2016, looking for a way to build confidence, stay active and find purpose outside of school. What I found was a powerful outlet that helped me focus during my A-levels, improve my mental and physical health, and develop the self-belief I needed as I grew into adulthood.
Tiger stood out to me because it offered the perfect blend of fun, challenge and life skills. The welcoming community made it easy to grow, and I knew early on that I wanted to give back. I began helping out with classes part-time and became a full-time instructor as soon as I finished school.
Teaching martial arts is more than a job for me, it is a way to share the same life-changing benefits I experienced. I see students come in unsure of themselves and leave with newfound confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging. That transformation never gets old. Whether someone joins to get fitter, gain discipline or just find a new challenge, I make it my mission to guide them with encouragement, structure and consistency.
For juniors, I focus on building confidence, self-discipline and respect. They learn skills that serve them in school, at home and in everyday life. For adults, it is about creating motivation and commitment, offering a space where they can grow physically, mentally and socially. Everyone trains at their own pace, with individual goals in mind, but no one trains alone. We are a team.
I know walking into a martial arts class can feel daunting. The idea of starting something new, especially a contact-based discipline, can hold people back. That is why I focus on creating a supportive and inclusive environment. I help each student discover what they are capable of and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small.
Martial arts is not just about learning how to defend yourself. It is about becoming stronger, calmer, and more confident in every aspect of life. For me, the most rewarding part of teaching is seeing the ripple effect of students growing on the mats and then carrying those lessons into their daily lives.
Outside of martial arts, I love anything active, especially climbing and hiking. Music festivals, movie nights with friends and quality time with family keep me balanced and inspired. One of my favourite quotes is something my sister once told me: “A decision to not make a change is a decision to stay stuck where you are.” That has always stuck with me and is part of what I hope to pass on to others.
If you are thinking about starting martial arts, know this: everyone begins as a beginner. What matters most is showing up. Whether you want to boost your fitness, find focus or become part of something bigger, I am here to guide you every step of the way.
